~A Tenor for the Ages~

Zachary Fitzgerald Lives a full and beautiful life both in his music making and his teaching of the voice . Currently based in Seattle Washington, Zachary is studying with the world renown tenor Thomas Harper as he completes his Doctorate of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Washington.

Zachary began his musical journey at an early age as a young Oboist, Saxophonist and Vocalist. The early years of instrumental work and his playing as principal oboist in North Valley Symphony Orchestra and 2nd Oboe/English Horn in the Arizona Winds Concert Band brought to life his passion for music and after beginning voice studies with Mezzo-soprano Dr. Mary Sue Hyatt, his musical dreams all became possible. Zachary attended the Lorezno Malfatti Academia Vocale di Lucca  at the age of 18 where he studied Opera and Italian language with stars of Broadway, The Metropolitan Opera and Juilliiard graduate school. Zachary also spent this time learning and performing the role of Nemorino from Donizetti's Elisir d'amore . After returning from Italy Zachary enrolled at the University of Oregon where he completed his Bachelors of Music Education studying both Voice and Oboe. Zachary's passion in music was not just for performing, but he also has a goal to become the best teacher he can be. After a year of teaching Highschool/Middle school choir, Zachary returned to school to pursue his Masters of Music in Vocal Performance as an appointed Graduate Assistant at Kent State University. Zachary then driven by his desire to learn stayed and received another Graduate Assistant appointment completing his Masters of Music in Choral Conducting. This second masters degree was supplemented by Zachary's work with choirs as he was the Director of Music Ministries at Trinity Lutheran Church in Kent, OH. He has also appeared as a singer and soloist with The Cleveland Chamber Choir. While at Kent State Zach notes that studying voice with the fantastic tenor Timothy Culver was a life changing experience and prepared him to continue his studies auditioning for opera programs and doctoral programs where that journey ultimately led him to accept the Teaching Assistantship at the University of Washington to complete his Doctorate of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance. Zachary is sought after for masterclasses and workshops with individual singers and full choirs across the country. In addition to his classical singing he also has vocal credits on multiple songs for popular Anime shows, and is featured with the Acapella group On The Rocks famous for their debut on Season 2 of "The Sing Off" TV show. Zachary has also been a judge for the Karaoke Idols International Voice Competition.

Zachary's performance resume includes many credits from all over the country. Most recently his work with Tacoma Opera as Steve Hubble in A Streetcar Named Desire and Remendado in Carmen have highlighted his entrance to the pacific northwest music scene. Previously he has performed as Toby in Menotti's the Medium, chorus with Cincinnati Opera in their production of Aida , Aeneas in Dido and Aeneas, Frederic in The Pirates of Penzance, King Kaspar in Amahl and the Night Visitors, The Defendant in Trial by Jury, and La Peinture in Les Art Florissants, Jamie in The Last Five Years, Prince Eric in The Little Mermaid, and Charlie Brown in You're a Good Man Charlie Brown.

Zachary has performed in multiple concert series all over the world. This includes Schumann's Dichterliebe at Christ the Lord Lutheran Church in Arizona, soloist for Faure's Requiem at Church of The Western Reserve, Aria recital at the Musical Instrument Museum, and The Te Deum at the St. James Episcopal Church in Florence, Italy.

In addition Zachary holds a thriving private studio of voice students both online and in-person that has been active for over 10 years
